FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2019

SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in May 2019 was up 9.7% from May 2018 volume and the total value of sales was up 11.3% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 2.7% from the previous year.  There was a 9.6% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from May 2018 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 0.7%; Total Value of Sales is up 6.7%; Individual Sales Value is up 2.2%; Mortgage Volume is down 4.9%.

Register Meade reports that there were 789 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2019 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $407,964,898.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May 2019 was $385,000.00.

There were 1,199 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May 2019 with a total value of $503,207,197.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $284,000.00.

By way of comparison, there were 719 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2018 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $366,647,078.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May 2018 was $375,000.00.

There were 1,094 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May 2018 with a total value of $393,805,563.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $270,000.00.
