FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2019 

SALES VOLUME DROPS & VALUE RISES!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in January 2019 was down 12.5% from January 2018 volume and the total value of sales was up 1% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 2.6% from the previous year.  There was a 20% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from January 2018 levels.

 

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 12.5%; Total Value of Sales is up 1%; Individual Sales Value is up 2.6%; Mortgage Volume is down 20%.

 

Register Meade reports that there were 461 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2019 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $264,322,212.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2019 was $351,000.00.

 

There were 780 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2019 with a total value of $269,582,587.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $255,445.00.

 

By way of comparison, there were 527 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2018 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $254,189,812.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2018 was $342,000.00.

 

There were 978 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2018 with a total value of $338,451,283.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $260,000.00.
