REPORT OF BARNSTABLE COUNTY REAL ESTATE ACTIVITY

 

FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2016

 

SALES VOLUME & VALUE CONTINUE RISE!

 

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in October 2016 was up 1.5% from October 2015 volume and the total value of sales was up 9.3% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 6.7% from the previous year.  There was a 22.3% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from October 2015 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 11.1%; Total Value of Sales is up 14.1%; Individual Sales Value is up 2.6%; Mortgage Volume is up 9.6%.

 Register Meade reports that there were 686 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in October 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $350,384,251.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in October was $360,000.00.

There were 1,288 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in October with a total value of $448,554,117.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $250,000.00.

By way of comparison, there were 676 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in October 2015 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $320,671,822.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in October was $337,300.00.

There were 1,053 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in October with a total value of $439,917,696.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $249,058.00.
