REPORT OF BARNSTABLE COUNTY REAL ESTATE ACTIVITY

FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2020

SALES VOLUME & VALUE CLIMB!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in September 2020 was up 48% from September 2019 volume and the total value of sales was up 65.4% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 17.8% from the previous year.  There was a 40% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from September 2019 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 5%; Total Value of Sales is up 14.3%; Individual Sales Value is up 11.3%; Mortgage Volume is up 47.6%.

Register Meade reports that there were 987 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in September 2020 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $624,829,464.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in September 2020 was $470,000.00.

There were 1,815 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in September 2020 with a total value of $730,796,337.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $319,500.00.

By way of comparison, that there were 667 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in September 2019 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $377,756,500.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in September 2019 was $399,000.00.

There were 1,297 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in September 2019 with a total value of $765,659,011.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $309,200.00.
