REPORT OF BARNSTABLE COUNTY REAL ESTATE ACTIVITY

FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2019

SALES VOLUME AND VALUE RISE!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in December 2019 was up 11.4% from December 2018 volume and the total value of sales was up 21.4% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 7.1% from the previous year.  There was a 57% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from December 2018 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 1.8%; Total Value of Sales is up 2.3%; Individual Sales Value is up 2.7%; Mortgage Volume is up 16.9%.

Register Meade reports that there were 626 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December 2019 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $321,520,501.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in December 2019 was $375,000.00.

There were 1,390 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in December 2019 with a total value of $528,717,575.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $289,661.00.

By way of comparison, there were 562 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December 2018 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $264,832,409.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in December 2018 was $350,000.00.

There were 885 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in December 2018 with a total value of $298,939,812.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $255,000.00.
