Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in May 2015 was down 4.8% from May 2014 volume and the total value of sales was down 14.7% from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was down 2.7% from the previous year. There was a 22.4% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from May 2014 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 4.5%; Total Value of Sales is down 2.5%; Individual Sales Value is up 2.5%; Mortgage Volume is up 26.1%.

Register Meade reports that there were 660 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2015 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $280,345,435.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May was $320,000.00.

There were 1,159 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May with a total value of $370,835,655.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $240,800.00.

By way of comparison, there were 693 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2014 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $328,776,102.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May was $329,000.00.

There were 947 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May with a total value of $291,839,295.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $227,750.00.
