FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2017

SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE!

 

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in May 2017 was up 8.9% from May 2016 volume and the total value of sales was up 26.7% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 8.8% from the previous year.  There was a 3.1% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from May 2016 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 4.8%; Total Value of Sales is up 10%; Individual Sales Value is up 6.6%; Mortgage Volume is down 0.8%.

Register Meade reports that there were 761 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2017 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $395,534,476.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May 2017 was $370,000.00.

There were 1,200 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May 2017 with a total value of $415,078,351.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $255,000.00.

By way of comparison, there were 699 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $312,074,551.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May was $340,000.00.

There were 1,164 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May with a total value of $594,815,231.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $247,500.00.
