SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in May 2016 was up 5.9% from May 2015 volume and the total value of sales was up 11.3% from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was up 6.3% from the previous year. There was a 0.4% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from May 2015 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 22.8%; Total Value of Sales is up 19.9%; Individual Sales Value is unchanged; Mortgage Volume is up 4.5%.

Register Meade reports that there were 699 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $312,074,551.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May was $340,000.00.

There were 1,164 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May with a total value of $594,815,231.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $247,500.00.

By way of comparison, there were 660 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in May 2015 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $280,345,435.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in May was $320,000.00.

There were 1,159 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in May with a total value of $370,835,655.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $240,800.00.
