FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2017

SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE!

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in January 2017 was up 17.5% from January 2016 volume and the total value of sales was up 12.7% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 7.9% from the previous year.  There was a 22.8% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from January 2016 levels.

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 17.5%; Total Value of Sales is up 12.7%; Individual Sales Value is down 7.9%; Mortgage Volume is up 22.8%.

Register Meade reports that there were 510 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2017 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $224,698,886.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2017 was $340,000.00.

There were 1,104 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2017 with a total value of $363,434,273.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $249,000.00.

By way of comparison, there were 434 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in January 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $199,458,383.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in January 2016 was $315,000.00.

There were 899 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in January 2016 with a total value of $270,903,472.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $236,000.00.
