REPORT OF BARNSTABLE COUNTY REAL ESTATE ACTIVITY

 

FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2016

 

SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE!

 

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in December 2016 was up 3.9% from December 2015 volume and the total value of sales was up 4.7% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 1.8% from the previous year.  There was a 16.8% increase in the volume of mortgage activity from December 2015 levels.

 

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 10.9%; Total Value of Sales is up 13.4%; Individual Sales Value is up 3%; Mortgage Volume is up 12.6%.

 

Register Meade reports that there were 665 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $328,537,981.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in December was $350,000.00.

 

There were 1,316 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in December with a total value of $472,498,509.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $259,691.00.

 

By way of comparison, Register Meade reports that there were 640 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in December 2015 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $313,715,661.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in December was $344,000.00.

 

There were 1,127 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in December with a total value of $548,345,020.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $250,000.00.
