Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade,
reports that the volume of real
estate sales in May 2006 was down 21.3% from May
2005 volume and the total value
of sales was down 6.6% from the previous year.
The median individual
property sale value was down 0.75% from the previous year.
There was an 8% decrease in
the volume of mortgage activity from May 2005 levels. Year to Date:
Volume of Sales is down 20.2%; Total Value of Sales is down 13.5%;
Individual Sales Value is up 2%; Mortgage Volume is down 11.5%. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00,
the median sale price of
property in By way of comparison, in May 2005, there were 784 deeds recorded at the Registry of Deeds with stated sales values above $50,000.00, representing a total value of $368,215,278.00 in county-wide real estate sales. The median
sales price, based on all property sales values above $50,000.00 was $367,750.00.
