 REPORT OF BARNSTABLE COUNTY REAL ESTATE ACTIVITY

FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2017

SALES VOLUME & VALUE RISE.

 

Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in August 2017 was up 5.4% from August 2016 volume and the total value of sales was up 10.4% from the previous year.  The median individual property sale value was up 1.8% from the previous year.  There was an 8.4% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from August 2016 levels.

 

Year to Date: Volume of Sales is up 5%; Total Value of Sales is up 7.7%; Individual Sales Value is up 5.8%; Mortgage Volume is down 3.4%.

 

Register Meade reports that there were 722 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2017 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $327,001,447.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August 2017 was $340,000.00.

 

There were 1,095 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August 2017 with a total value of $391,764,717.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $250,400.00.

 

By way of comparison, there were 685 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2016 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $296,191,204.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August was $334,025.00.

 

There were 1,196 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August with a total value of $404,848,076.00.  The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $250,000.00.
